Mark Barlow has designed and/or installed over 50 kilowatts of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. His contributions to solar PV installations can be seen among the rolling hills of the river valley, atop a city skyscraper of downtown Pittsburgh, and even in a Nicaraguan mountain village.
His previous work in Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) reliability engineering identified unique device failures related to electrical and environmental stress. He is also a veteran of electronics manufacturing and test where he became well acquainted with power electronics and LED lighting systems.
Barlow received his BS in Electronics Engineering Technology and MS in Engineering, Electrical and Computer. His graduate thesis ?Metal-Semiconductor Contacts for Schottky Diode Fabrication? investigated how contact diode geometry and temperature processes affect voltage/current characteristics. His work resulted in subsequent process improvements for nickel contacts on silicon carbide. Mark has also received special training on Scanning Electron Microscopy, Solar Thermal System Design, and Sustainable Community Development.
He is a son of East Liverpool, Ohio and currently resides in his solar panel equipped apartment of Pittsburgh's south side. Mark enjoys creating high voltage electrical artwork and can be seen hiking the streets of the city or kayaking on any of the three rivers.
