Richard A. Blasband is a board-certified psychiatrist, trained in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and in psychiatry at Yale Medical School, where he served on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Blasband studied medical orgonomy with Dr. Elsworth Baker, who was appointed by Wilhelm Reich to train physicians in his therapeutic discipline, psychiatric orgone therapy. With others of Dr. Baker's students, Dr. Blasband assisted Dr. Baker in the creation of the American College of Orgonomy, where he served as President and Editor of the Journal of Orgonomy as well as conducting research in orgone biophysics. He is currently the Research Director of the Center for Functional Research in Sausalito, California, devoted to experimental and theoretical research on healing and the interface between life energy and consciousness. He is in the private practice of psychiatric orgone therapy, with over 35 years of experience in the field. He has published over 60 original articles and reviews in the Journal and other medical publications.
