Description

Unimodular gravity, originally proposed by Einstein, is well known to consider the cosmological constant as simply a constant of integration. Even if true, mainstream physics has not yet deduced how this sheds any light on the nature of how the constant relates to our currently accepted physical models. In this conference it will be shown how if one rigorously accepts this definition and the presence of the constant while holding as true the assumption that space-time does not curve without the presence of matter or energy, then the field equation must be transformed into an equivalent mirror image equation that instead seems to describe waves traveling through an elastic medium rather than particles traveling along geodesics. We will review basic calculus and the fundamental theorem before examining what can actually be definitively understood about "attractive" forces from the Poisson equation and Gauss' theorem. Once these concepts are firmly grasped, it is easier to compare and contrast the original EFE to the one presented in this work so that it can be easily seen why General Relativity can still give correct answers even if it drastically distorts our understanding of reality. The end of the conference will speak towards future research of using the Planck length to calculate the constant and possible ramifications on the lack of singularities, redshifting of light and high rotation speeds of galaxies (dark matter).
