Abstract

Implications of the Compton Effect Interpretation of the Red Shift

The Compton effect interpretation of astrophysical red shifts, as suggested by Compton (1923, Phil. Mag. 46, 897), Kierein and Sharp (1968, Solar Phys. 3, 450), Sistero (1966 OAC No. 1), and Reber (1968, J. of Franklin Inst. 285, 1) not only provides the mechanism for intrinsic red shifts of quasi-stellar sources, the solar limb and other objects, but also results in a new cosmological model and unexpected insight into the mechanism of gravitational attraction.
