From the earliest civilizations onward, comets have been the objects of dread, awe, and deep fascination. Though historians acknowledge this fact, only a few have explored the connection of comets to ancient memories of global catastrophe. As a result, mere guesses about the origins of "comet lore" have long dominated the scholarly discussion.

A failure of theoretical science has also contributed to this situation. Popular comet theory has never worked. The idea that comets are "dirty snowballs" or "icy dirtballs" evaporating in the warmth of the Sun is challenged by volumes of space age observation: an abundance of comet images and other data from several probes of comets, collected cometary dust samples, a close-up look at the impact of a projectile on a comet, measurements of charged particles in the comas of comets, considerable information on surface chemistry (including the baffling absence of water ice), and numerous observations of "impossible" comet behavior, such as discharging way too far from the Sun, explosive eruptions and even breakup of comets.

Yet a new understanding of comets is gaining increasing recognition, and this view has demonstrated a predictive ability far beyond that of the "standard" model. In fact, it has succeeded precisely where the standard model failed. The new view places the emphasis on the electrical behavior of comets, in a dynamic relationship with an electric Sun. If comets are discharging electrically as they move through the Sun's electric field, that fact alone will confirm a core tenet of the Electric Universe hypothesis.

The UNIVERSE ELECTRIC ebook series began with volume 1: Big Bang?, continued with volume 2: The Sun and continues with this volume 3: Comets. In simple language stripped of scientific jargon, and with spectacular photographs of cometary phenomena and numerous graphic illustrations, this third volume gives a view of a well-substantiated, electric model of cometary phenomena. Anchored in empirical science, it illuminates the shadowy confusion of anomalies and contradictions that the current popular theory has spawned.

101 pages of highly graphical content leading the reader through a simple, straightforward explanation of the electrical nature of comets.

Never has remote space inspired greater awe than in the first part of the 21st Century. But can it really be said that we understand the new vistas, the exotic structures, and intensely energetic events now revealed to us? As descriptions grow more complex, unified explanations seem ever more elusive. Yet a new vision of the universe is emerging, and it includes something long overlooked?the role of electricity in space.

The UNIVERSE ELECTRIC ebook series begins with volume 1: Big Bang? In simple language stripped of scientific jargon, and with spectacular photographs of deep space phenomena and numerous graphic illustrations, this first volume challenges some of our leading scientific theories.

It also offers an alternative point of view that has been a century in the making; a point of view anchored in empirical science and lab experimentation, a which illuminates the shadowy confusion of anomalies and contradictions that these current popular theories have spawned.

209 pages of highly graphical content leading the reader through an overview of the development and underpinnings of the Big Bang cosmology and the Electric Universe cosmology.

As descriptions grow more complex, unified explanations seem ever more elusive. The UNIVERSE ELECTRIC ebook series began with volume 1: Big Bang? and continues with this volume 2: The Sun. In simple language stripped of scientific jargon, and with spectacular photographs of solar phenomena and numerous graphic illustrations, this second volume gives a view of a well-substantiated, simpler model of solar function. This model explains: the inverse temperature gradient, the accelerating arcs. the solar cycle, the accelerating solar wind, the pulses, the perfect sphericity, the sunspots, the surface rotation gradient, etc.

In doing this, it also offers an alternative point of view that has been a century in the making; a point of view actually anchored in empirical science and lab experimentation, and which illuminates the shadowy confusion of anomalies and contradictions that the current popular theory has spawned.

In this monograph, Thornhill and Talbott suggest that popular astronomy gives a distorted view of the universe. The modern vision evokes a sense of lonely bodies in space?isolated galaxies, self-immolating stars drifting like dust moats in the blackness, and the clockwork solitude of planets. In challenging this idea, the authors emphasize connectivity. The electric force, they contend, influences matter at all levels, from subatomic particles to galactic clusters, leaving little room for the disconnected fragments of modern theory.

Primary subjects include: an introduction to the plasma universe; electrical challenges to Big Bang cosmology; discovery of the electric sun; and the electrical nature of comets. In language designed for scientists and non-scientists alike, the authors show that even the greatest surprises of the space age are predictable patterns in an electric universe.

This book not only complements The Electric Sky book, but actually overlaps very little, while covering cosmic quandaries and plasma and electricity in space. The chapter on the electrical properties of comets is such great material, thoroughly convincing.

Reviews:

A magnificent description of electricity in space. Authors Thornhill and Talbott offer a sweeping critique of today's popular cosmology. They show that galaxies, stars (including our Sun), and comets can be best understood through the well-tested behavior of electricity the one force about which astronomers seem to know almost nothing. Having now devoted many years to investigating this question, I am in full agreement. -- Donald E. Scott, professor of electrical engineering (retired)

On a plane back to London I read The Electric Universe from cover to cover (the light above my seat was the only one that remained on throughout the night). What a masterpiece. Each single sentence is absolutely spot-on and well formulated. This is just such a powerful textbook the potential and logic of the electric universe theory leaps off every page. The omission of mythological and other ancient data from the argument will undoubtedly help to forestall accusations of using 'tales and stories' to bolster a scientific theory. The book also conveys a strong impression that this theory has reached full maturation; it's not the incoherent ranting of someone exploding with a lot of new ideas, but obviously the fruit of many years of careful thinking and making associations. The soberness of tone and the lavish illustrations strike the right chord and I find it hard to imagine a reader who would not find the argument compelling. I have nothing to contend with concerning the main argument. -- Rens van der Sluijs

The last 150 years have seen immense progress in the understanding of electrical phenomena. Nevertheless, the conventional cosmology taught today remains essentially a theory of gravity. "The Electric Universe" presents an alternative theory that recognizes electrical forces as the dominant influence in shaping the universe, and a major factor in determining much of our cultural and historical experience. Based on well-understood principles that can be observed and demonstrated in any plasma laboratory, the electrical model also offers ready explanations for processes that continue to puzzle astronomers today. Compelling, highly readable, and superbly illustrated, this book provides a comprehensive introduction to what will surely be the beginnings of a scientific revolution in the years ahead. -- James Hogan, science/SF author

Thunderbolts of the Gods by David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill introduces the reader to an age of planetary instability and earthshaking electrical events in ancient times. The 108-page full-color monograph, based on the life work of the two authors, offers a revolutionary synthesis of historical investigation and the newly-discovered "Electric Universe."

Talbott and Thornhill claim that cosmic upheaval occurred so recently as to have profoundly affected early human cultures, provoking ?incomprehensible? myths, symbols, and commemorative practices. Through a synthesis of ancient testimony, high-energy plasma experiments, and space age discoveries, the authors bring the ancient world to life. If their hypothesis is correct, it could not fail to alter many paths of scientific investigation as well.

Thunderbolts of the Gods introduces the reader to a former age of planetary instability and earthshaking electrical events, and offers a revolutionary synthesis of historical investigation and the newly discovered Electric Universe. Solar system cosmic upheaval occurred so recently as to have profoundly affected early human cultures, provoking incomprehensible myths, symbols, and commemorative practices. Through a synthesis of ancient testimony, high-energy plasma experiments, and space age discoveries, the authors bring the ancient world to life. If their hypothesis is correct, it will surely alter many paths of scientific investigation as well. The little-known study of powerful electrical discharges in plasma is a new and exciting development in plasma cosmology , with profound implication for space age astronomy. To advance their case, the authors present side-by-side comparisons of laboratory plasma experiments and globally recurring symbols of the ancient sky. The evidence, they report, shows an ancient obsession with extremely violent electrical discharge formations in the heavens. Thunderbolts of the Gods is packaged with the 65-minute DVD, Thunderbolts - The Tutorial. This film introduces you to the key themes of the theory, and includes interviews with the principal figures in Electric Universe research.

In Thunderbolts of the Gods Talbott and Thornhill have combined their knowledge and expertise to present solid evidence for a revised view of Earth s history. Their work reveals that the tales, artifacts, customs and petroglyphs of the ancients that have come down to us through the fog of time tell a mutually consistent and powerful single story. Our planet s past has been filled with cataclysmic events some of which were witnessed by our early ancestors. At first, modern scientists claimed these events were physically impossible. But now it is becoming clear that not only the geological record provides strong evidence for these cataclysms, but the emerging study of plasma cosmology also demonstrates how these events could have indeed occurred. Only a few books rise to the level of importance whereby we can say This book truly changed my view of history . In my opinion this is such a book because once you have read it you will never look at art, ancient literature, mythology, opera, history, archeology, anthropology, or astronomy with the same eyes ever again. -- Donald E. Scott, Ph.D., retired professor of electrical engineering and author of The Electric Sky

Mainstream astronomy holds that the Solar System has remained stable and essentially as we see it today for billions of years, cycling with regular, repeating motions that can be extrapolated backward to reliably reconstruct conditions in the remote past. The assumptions upon which this belief rests date back over three centuries to the times of Kepler, Newton, and Laplace, which see a cosmos consisting of electrically neutral bodies moving in a vacuum under the sole influence of gravity. Yet space is now known to be pervaded by electrical plasma, and there is strong evidence that the planets and other bodies carry electric charge. Charged objects immersed in plasma spontaneously form double-layer isolating sheaths around themselves that contain their fields and prevent mutual electrical interaction. For as long as planets move without their "magnetospheres" coming into contact, quiescent conditions like those that exist today will prevail, which are indeed accurately modeled by gravitation. But should some disturbance or instability occur that causes magnetospheres to intersect, the bodies involved will experience sudden complex forces immensely more powerful than gravity, accompanied by-if they are at different potentials-colossal electrical discharges between them. In Thunderbolts of the Gods, David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill present a compendium of evidence from diverse sources showing that not only have such events affected the Earth, but they have done so within the time of recorded human history! From as far apart as China, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the Americas, peoples of ancient times have left records in their myths, legends, religions, and art forms, of skies vastly different from those we see today, alive with spectacles of light, violence, and seeming heavenly deities in conflict that not only battled each other but brought widespread death and devastation to Earth. -- James P. Hogan, Author of Kicking the Sacred Cow
