I began full-time work to uncover practical alternatives to fossil and uranium fuels in 1973, with the founding of the non-profit Aesop Institute. the late Dr. Robert L. Carroll was a consultant to us for 12 years until his demise. Dr. Carroll was an active member of NPA prior to his death.

Our new Company is Chava Energy. It will fund the commercialization of work begun at Magnetic Power Inc. and Room Temperature Superconductors Inc. described briefly below.

In 1975, I became the founder and CEO of Sunwind Ltd, which created the freeway capable Windmobile, a windelectric hybrid vehicle featured as the cover story for Popular Science in November 1976. (http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/partner/story?id=52068) The Windmobile was invented by the late James Amick, a Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Michigan. SunWind wound down operations in 1983. The following year Magnetic Power Inc. replaced it as the second commercial affiliate of the Institute, after the late Dr. Robert Forward, then a physicist at Hughes Aircraft, suggested Zero Point Energy might become a source of electricity in an article in the refereed journal, Physical Review B.

Russian work with polymer ambient temperature Ultraconductors? surfaced in 1991. Dr. Kevin Shambrook and I visited Moscow the following year and co-founded Room Temperature Superconductors, Inc. as a subsidiary during 1993, in order to commercialize these materials. Earlier, during 1989-93, I had spoken about room temperature superconductors at four successive Global Superconductivity Conferences. We completed four Small Business Innovation Research contracts, including a highly competitive Phase II award, with the USAF and what is now called the Missile Defense Agency, in connection with the polymer Ultraconductors. I presented our work at Enterprise Forums, sponsored by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, in both Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, CA.

In 2004, a Presentation was made at the Arlington Institute Conference on Breakthrough Technologies for the World's Biggest Problems. During 2006, I was nominated for the World Technology Award in Energy. Earlier I was a guest speaker at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, as well as the Western Conference of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. I've testified regarding energy alternatives before a U.S. Senate Committee and was invited to discuss energy policy on several occasions during previous Administrations with senior White House staff.

In 1970, I became the founder and CEO of the AESOP Company, a financial consulting firm installing Employee Stock Ownership Plans and performing specialized economic research for government agencies. Earlier, I served as the Chief, Housing and Economic Development, with the Oakland, California, Redevelopment Agency. That led to my becoming a founding Member of the Board of Technology Consortium Inc., a pioneer in prefabricated housing, which was purchased by a larger firm. My prior experience included consulting with business and government. Clients included the N.Y. office of then U.S. Senator, Robert F. Kennedy. My first full-time job after graduating college was as an Executive Trainee with Ampex Corporation, in Redwood City, California. Earlier, employment included work as an engineer and announcer with radio stations in Freeport, N.Y. and San Luis Obispo, California. I held an FCC First Class Radiotelephone License, as well as an Advanced Class amateur radio license. I also worked part-time building and testing marine and specialized radio equipment at a firm that became a part of Raytheon.

Miscellaneous experience included real estate: My office in Big Sur, California, was called Surrealestate.

I was the Wing Commander and a Distinguished AF Graduate of the AFROTC at San Francisco State University and served as an Officer, USAF Reserve, 1953-60. Saw active duty 1954-56 in North Africa and Germany. My primary assignment was as a Senior Director of the Berlin Corridor Control Radar, located near Kassel, Germany.

Established an experimental curriculum and taught world politics, history and sociology at Monterey Peninsula College during 1958-59 and founded Emerson College of the Monterey Peninsula in 1960. The free university movement, which spread to more than 600 locations throughout the world, sprouted from this experiment.
