The Spectral Classification of a Multiple Star System using CCD Spectrograph
Year: 2008 Pages: 1
The purpose of this independent study is to classify the spectrum type of a multiple star system using the CCD spectrograph with the 16-inch Cassegrain telescope at Sirinthon Observatory, Chiangmai University. The spectrograph has a grating of 600 grooves/inch with the resolution of 4.3 angstroms. The target multiple star systems are Beta Scorpii and Zeta Ursae Majoris. The separation of each star is clearly visible. By measuring the spectrum of each star separately and the spectrum of two stars simultaneously, the results show that the spectrograph can identify the spectral class of each star in this multiple star effectively. However, when the two stars are in the same slit, the result spectrum is the combine spectral type of them.
